Nike new diet

The Vet change Nike Diet to can food……..we have to restart everything again…..very stress. Since now Nike & Fila eat different food, me and my sis need to watch them eat their meal as they tent to preferred each other meal rather than their own meal….
As what I always say 别人的一定比自己的好even dogs feel the same. Sigh I really got nothing to say liao.
Nike is going to have his urine and blood test this Saturday. I hope the vet can let us mix the wet & dry food got him. It seems that Nike prefer the dry food. He gets hungry easily when eat the wet food. We are having a hard time with 2 picky dogs at home……

Nike Bladder Stone......

Its has been 2 month since my last post. :) Since starting my new job, everyday is getting more and more busy! Anyway bust is better than nothing to do lah. I can't login to my facebook from office and had no time to update my blog at all.... Once at home i got to entertain my 2 darling and dun feel like updating my blog at all. Therefore as you can see......MIA for 2 months :)

Anyway, other than busy with work, nothing much happen except that last month Nike need to go through an operation to remove bladder stone....my stress lever really shoot up man!

We start to monitor him when we notice he started to pee more in a day. (Usually he only pee once a day) Then on that Sunday Morning, Nike wants me to follow him to the kitchen. I follow as I think he may want to eat some snack. However, he bring me to his pee area and started to pee. I notice that he had difficulty in peeing. He tooks a long time to pee than usual. He is a smart dog.....he knows he is unwell and wanted us to know. During his usual market walk in the morning, then we notice that he did not pee in a smooth stream but drop by drop. That is not small matter as there might be stone in his bladder. We hope that we are wrong. A fast trip to the Vet confirmed our guess. There is no choice but to operate to remove otherwise he will die. Appointment was made to operate on Tuesday.

My sis bring Nike to the Vet on Tuesday morning. An X-ray was done to confirm the location of the stone and the operation in the afternoon. Nike can't come home that night.....it was the worst night for me and my sis. Can't sleep well that night. A call the next day confirm that we can bring him home anytime so I took 1/2 a day off to fetch him with my yonger sis. We are sooooooo happy to see him :)

He is recovering well now. However there is still some issue after the op. From now on Nike must follow the diet given by the Vet. No other food is allow. The stone may come back is we do not follow the diet. Nike have been eating cooked food all these while and my parents given them milk and cheese everynight. This is the worst part since the op. The tought part is to re-introduce dry food to the dogs and educate my parents to follow the diet. Especially my iron teeth dad. Si Bei Jia Lart. We have to stop all cook food and treat for both Nike and Fila. Must be fair so Fila also must follow as per Nike's diet. We get another dry food for Fila since he can't eat those prescribe by the Vet. These 2 also one kind one....they wan to eat each other food but not their own food. Me and my sis really had a hard time to get time eat.

My sis most cham one.....as my parents blame her for not letting them drink milk this and that. Seems to them she is the bad guy. Sigh.....and the best is yesterday she caught my dad give them cooked food. My sis really very angry man. I oso disappointed with my dad. He really very iron teeth and dun listen to us. I really dun want anything to happen to Nike again as I dun think he can go through another operation in a fews year time.....

I really dunno what to do with my dad sigh......

Wanted to upload the video I took on 18 Aug 2007 during the Singapore Fireworks Celebrations 2007. But I give up after a few try. Although I reduce the size to below 100MB, it still took a long time to upload. Too long until I want to sleep liao.

Instead this is the video of Fila chasing after the 3M lint roller. I always use this to roll off their fur from my bed & cloths after I brush them. Fila likes to chase after it but Nike hates it.

Fila Birthday Party!

Today is Fila's 2nd birthday. We ordered some cakes & treats from US Doggie and had a small party at the dog run. The others dogs enjoy and love the foods however I don't think Fila understand whats really going on.

Dog swims 4 km to nurse pups
A dog swims more than 4km every day to nurse her newborn puppies who are stranded on an island.
The dog, already a celebrity in Chongqing city, is called Huahua by local people.
She gave birth to four pups at Shanhuba, which has become an island in the Changjiang River due to the heavy rains this summer.
Huahua swims 1.2 km to the island every day to nurse her four babies. Then she returns to the Changjiang River, following the flow of the water, to swim another 1.1 km to another part of the city to feed herself.

Each day Huahua does the whole journey twice, once in the morning, around 7 am, and again at 7 pm, at which point she stays with her pups on the island and returns to the city the next morning.

Huang Pingren, a pensioner who swims to the island everyday, says he discovered the amazing dog a few weeks ago.
"I was resting on the island, and found the unprotected litter of dogs. Then in the evening, around 7 pm, I saw a dog swimming to the bank and then running to the newborns."
Huang even published a story on the internet, describing the great deeds of the dog mother, and leading to an outpouring of enthusiasm from readers.
"Many citizens found me and said they wanted to do something, like contribute food or money, but I told them not to, since I was afraid too many visitors may scare the mom away."
Two days ago, the water rose again, and the mother has moved her children to a higher point on the island, reports Chongqing Evening News.

NDW 2007

Today is the National Dog Walk 2007 at West Coast Park. This is the first time we participate in such even. After some delay, the walk is supposed to starts at 4pm. The whole walk is around 1.5KM starts from West Coast Part car park 2 and end at West Cost Park Dog Run.

After some delay, the walk finally starts at 4:20pm and all the human & dogs starts to walk in a big crazy unorganised mass. We walk happily with all the others. Have a few stop to let the dogs have their drink. I specially made ice water for today cos its so hot. But thanks to the cooling breeze & shade from the trees, it does not seem hot at all. However after 1KM, my dogs' battery went flat so we need to carry them to the end point.

The whole walk is actually quite enjoyable & fun. The killing part is actually the carnival in the dog run area. We have to keep the dogs under shade & plenty of water to prevent them from sun stroke. Luckily we bought our UV protection umbrella with us. This is also my first visit to this dog run as I always go to Bishan Park dog run which is just opposite my block. It is very much bigger than the Bishan Park dog run. We did not stay for the lucky draw and the screening of " Shaggy Dog" and went home around 6 plus. All of us are dead tired.

Nike & Fila are both now sleeping soundly.

This is what I usually cook for my 2 darling. Bake rice with meat (beef, pork or chicken) and apple. Fila really love the apples.

Hair Dryer stand

I bought this hair dryer stand a few weeks back. Never regret. Before I bought this, I usually need my sis to hold the hair dryer while I comb my dogs fur after their weekly bath. You need 2 hands to adjust the dogs posistion & comb their fur. That means we can only do one dog at a time. With this stand, we can do both dogs together. It is ver useful when my dogs like to move about while we comb their hair. I am ver glad we bought this.

Veterinary Conditions for the Importation of Dogs.

1. The following breeds of dogs and their crosses are not allowed to be imported into Singapore.
   a) Pit Bull (which includes the American Pit Bull Terrier also known as the American Pit Bull and Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, the American Bulldog, and crosses between them and with other breeds)
   b) Neapolitan Mastiff,
   c) Tosa,
   d) Akita,
   e) Dogo Argentino,
   f) Boerboel,
   g) Fila Brasileiro,
   h) and their crosses.
   
2. The following breeds of dogs need to be muzzled while in a public place.
   a) Bull Mastiff,
   b) Bull Terrier,
   c) Doberman Pinscher,
   d) German Shepherd with its related breeds such as the Belgian Shepherd and the East European Shepherd,
   e) Rottweiler Perro de Presa Canario.

The killer dog

This morning I witness 2 fights during our gathering at the dog run. Its not the first time I have witness a fight among dogs, but this one nearly give me a heart attack. There is this uncle with 2 bull terriers. This is the 2nd time I met him but every time his dogs gets in a fight with others. According to the other owners, his dogs attack theirs and others in the pass few weeks. His dogs always seem to attack others. Actually bull terrier needs to be muzzled while in the public. That’s includes in the dog run.
Once I arrived at the dog run this morning, I notice that these 2 bull terriers did not have their muzzle on and Oscar (Boxer) was leashed. I was told by Oscar owner that the bull terrier attack Oscar two week ago that’s why he leashed Oscar to keep him saved. The other dog owner is also on their alert to watch out their own dog. Suddenly the 2 bull terriers attack a Husky. With the help from a few owners, we managed to free the dog. It seems that the Husky was not hurt. My sis then advises the Husky owner to get the contact number from the Bull terrier’s owner. Sometimes the cut do not surface immediately. Previously Nike also kana attack by a Jack Russell. The cut surface after we wash him. Then that uncle leashed up his dog. Da Da (Wolffie’s owner) tried to persuade the uncle to muzzle his dogs but he dun care. Left with no choice, all the big dogs went over to the other confine area just to keep away from them. That uncle still dun gets it.
Then here come the victim a Golden Retriever. Since it’s their first time here, I went to inform the owner to keep an eye on his dog as those 2 are very aggressive. However he did not seems to take note of my warning. Those 2 starts to attack once the Goldie get near them. It all happens in a matter of seconds. The poor Goldie was howling & crying. Our heroes Da Da and Brenda run for his rescue. My sis immediately picks & places both Nike & Fila on the bench to prevent them from kaypoing. I had to pull back Wolffie to prevent him from kaypoing also. Da Da try to separate the dogs but one of the bull terrier bite onto the Goldie neck and do not intend to let go even though Da Da hit him with a stick. Bull terrier is a tough dog. He intends to kill the Goldie. Brenda manages to pull away the other bull terrier to prevent him to join in the fight. The killer dog holds onto the Goldie for almost 5 minutes. I am really scared. The poor Goldie stops his weeping and starts to breathe heavily. That uncle did nothing other than shouting for his dog to let go. We were very angry. We shout at the uncle that his dog is trying to kill the Goldie then finally he try to grab open his dog’s jaws and managed to loosen the grip. The other dog owners after hearing our shout rush from the other confine area to help.
After some quick check, it seems that only the inner lips are injured. The Goldie is very lucky that the bull terrier had some how missed his vital point at his neck. With a grip like that my 2 darling don’t stand a chance against him. It took me quite a while to cool down my nearly heart attack heart.
During all these commotions, that uncle still insist that it was the Goldie that starts the fight and his dogs are very gentle. OMG!! This is not his dog’s first attack leh. It was the “n” time liao. The Goldie owner is very angry and shouts at that uncle. “Your dogs are supposed to be muzzled!! Why you didn’t muzzle them?? You have such aggressive dogs and you don’t muzzled them is very dangerous!! One fine day they might attack little children!!” The uncle also very stubborn and shout back. “My dog is very gentle! It was your dog that starts the fight! At home they never hurt my grandchildren!!” Here shout there shout everybody starts to shout. Goldie’s owner ever threatens to report to police. Mike (Hidi’s owner) and Daniel (Oscar’s owner) volunteer to stands in as witness if the Goldie owner makes police report. Anyway Goldie owner managed to get uncle’s contact. This is incase he need to claim medical or make police report.
After the Bull terriers left, everyone starts to relax and enjoy the remaining times in the dog run. We really do hope that they will not come again.

Dog Run area in Bishan Park

My Nike & Fila always wakes my sister every Saturday morning at 7am although she don’t need to work. Somehow they know that Saturday morning is the time we will bring to Bishan Park dog run. This is an enclose area at Bishan Park where we can unleash our dogs to let them run freely. It is like gathering of dogs & dog owner. In this area, they can run wildly and play with their friends without the restriction of the leash.
Other than Bishan Dog Run, there are also the West Coast Dog Run, Pet Movers Dog Run, Katong Dog Run, The Animal Resort DR & Jurong Lake Dog Run. We are lucky that we stay just opposite the Bishan dog run. We just need to cross the overhead bridge to get there. Others need to drive from all over Singapore just to get there. I get to know a few friends from this dog gathering so are Nike & Fila. It’s good that there is a place where we can let our dogs to interact with each other.
However we as the owner, always have the responsibility over our dogs. Although we chat while our dogs play, we also need to keep an eye on our dogs. Dogs are animal. Animals are always animals. Well educated human fight among each others not to mention dogs. Other than cleaning after our dog’s poo, we also need to make sure they don’t fight. I would definitely not let my dogs get involve in any fight. Small terrier dogs do not stand any chance against the big guys. A bite at the neck will kill them. That is why I will not let mine go near any aggressive dogs. It’s better to be kiasu than sorry.

Fila in trouble!

Fila pee on my bed again! Mum bery bery angry!! Because we just change my bed sheet the day before mah. Mum going mad as she need to wash the bed sheet again.....heng I not at home. My poor sis (who is on MC) need to change the bed sheet...just like what I did when I am on MC lah..... Just its better that we both dun on MC anymore....MC need to change bed sheet instead of resting.

Than that poor Fila kana wack by my mum until he go hide beside the toilet bowl.....Dun dare to come out for quite some times. Kalanguni come also dun dare to bark. haha

Happy Birthday Nike!

Today is Nike 5th birthday.
Times really fly.....It seems only yesterday that Nike join our family.
A family with 3 unmarried woman + 2 parents.....one word = BORING!
Off cos we love each other but as days goes by we tend to take things for granted. We don't spend times together as we used to when we are younger. Everyday after dinner, we will stay in our room. During weekends, 3 of us will sleep until the sun shine onto our ass then we wakeup. Afternoon we have our own program or do nothing in our room. Not much interaction with our parents.
Nike brings our family menbers together. We have a common topics (abt Nike lor) to talk about with our parents.....have he eaten? Did he shit?? we also find time during weekend to go outing together. Go to the beach / park with Nike & my parents.
You can sense the happiness in our family. Nike will make sure to wake us up before 8am every weekend or public holiday (he seems to know that we are not working). Than after a breakfast with my parents, we will bring him to the park's dog run where Nike can meet other dogs. Weekend breakfast is also a time for us to spend times with my parents.

Dogs are like your baby, they brings happiness to your family.
