Semakau Landfill - Waste Disposal in Singapore

I remember I read an article in the newspaper about how our government created a landfill to hold waste generated by Singaporean. I am very impress with our Singapore government as before reading this article. Because of our limited land the authorities began to look offshore and they begain to make a landfill site enclosing a part of the sea off the islands of Semakau and Sakeng.
While trying to find ways to take care of the waste created, the authorities also take care to protect the marine ecosystem to ensure that the mangrove swamps and corals were left untouched. They also build a 7 km confinement bund to prevent any pollution of the sea surrounding the landfill site.
I do belive that althought our government find ways & means to improve our standard of living, they also belive in making our country a better place to live in.

wow, you are really into 'saving the earth' mood. Keep it up! Actually SG shld learn from Taiwan. In Taiwan, no plastic bags provided when you buy from super market, 7-11 or big chain stores. Also, they have to dispose their waste and rubbish according to categories, example bottles, leftover food, plastic bags. Good habits and good practice.
